Hello There Planty Friends!

From planty snubber to planty appreciation, to being just too darn busy, to complete and total planty obsession…my journey into the houseplant community has taken some twists and turns over the years!

I’ve always been an animal lover and found joy in caring for animals and watching them grow and thrive. I have horses, dogs, cats, and have cared for many more in various professions throughout my life, and thus never had time for houseplants in my 20’s after spending my childhood completely ambivalent to their existence.

Approaching my 30’s and nearing home ownership, I was gifted a houseplant…and it all went downhill from there! I bought a few succulents and moved them around the house, window sill to window sill, to give them the best light possible. And so it began! The joy that they brought me was so unexpected! I had to research every plant I laid eyes on, filled my home with houseplants, and most importantly, talked my friends and family members’ ears off about everything I learned along the way!

My first love has always been writing, so I thought there’s no better way to share my love and experiences with houseplants, pets, and having an indoor planty jungle than with my pen and keyboard and by starting a blog!

And so The Planty Blog was born!

Even after a few years, I still consider myself a student of this wonderful hobby, and a newcomer to such an incredible community — so these blogs are all based on my own personal experience, and the endless hours of feeding my own curiosity by reading other blogs, watching videos, and chatting with others in the plant community.

It gives me so much joy to write about plants, and I hope that this blog will help you nurture your love of plants as well.
